Worcester Bosch 2000 combi boiler review

When you look at the budget boiler market, it is hard to see past this new boiler, but let’s take a deeper look as to why you should choose this Worcester as your next boiler replacement. If you like this boiler but can’t afford to pay upfront, you can spread the cost with boiler finance.

Worcester Greenstar 2000 combi boiler reviews

As we have said, the Worcester Greenstar 2000 is widening the reach of Worcester Bosch’s grip on the boiler market.

Being a Worcester Bosch means that before it has even been properly tested you know that it will have been put together properly using quality parts as standard. But being available so cheap, there must be some downsides.

A sign of confidence in a combi boiler is usually the length of the warranty, and 10 years is what you expect from a Worcester Bosch. The main downside to the Greenstar 2000 is the lack of warranty. You only get a 5 years warranty as standard on all of the boilers, but you do get 10 years warranty on the primary heat exchanger.

This doesn’t mean to say that the boiler won’t last longer than 5 years, it 100% will, but when you compare it to the Alpha E-tec which offers 10 years parts and labour warranty for a cheaper price, then this could be a sticking point.

Worcester 2000 combi boilers features

Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why you should buy the new Worcester 2000 combi boiler. Hopefully, these features are just what you are looking for in terms of performance, quietness and ease of use.

Colour LCD touchscreen display

With a simple boiler comes a simple display. This doesn’t mean to say it is lacking in information, it is just easy to use and very informative.

You can easily tell which icons which and the backlit display gives you all the information you need without checking the manual again and again.

Worcester Bosch quick tap water saving feature

This clever bit of engineering helps us save water. There’s no more running the tap with your finger underneath for a minute or so.

This smart function means that you can turn your tap on and then off to start your combi boiler up. £0 seconds later you can turn your tap back on with hot water flowing right away. Even better if you are on a water meter to keep energy bills and utility bills down.

Quiet Mark Accreditation

The Worcester Greenstar 2000 is the quietest boiler they manufacture. This compact boiler is designed to be installed in kitchen cupboards or near living spaces.

They are great for smaller homes, so if space is at a premium then the 2000 combi boiler is a winner.

Upgraded C6 heat exchanger

If you think that because the Worcester 2000 is a budget boiler then budget parts will be used, then you couldn’t be more wrong.

The most important part of the boiler, the heat exchanger is taken directly from its bigger brother, the Worcester 4000.

This is an upgraded version of the legendary WB6 heat exchanger that has reliably powered the Greenstar i range for over 10 years

Hydrogen ready boiler review

As we move forward to cleaner fuels such as solar, wind, and now hydrogen to power our homes, Worcester Bosch, amongst other boiler manufacturers has ensured that their new combi boilers are hydrogen ready up to 20%.

This means that they can burn a mix of hydrogen and natural gas to cut the amount of natural gas used across the nation.

easy to install

Not only will this boiler fit easily into small spaces like kitchen cupboards, but it will also be a relatively easy job for any Gas Safe registered installer to fit. With the option to pipe the boiler vertically, this may make this boiler an even better choice for extra tight spots or where pipework is a little more awkward.

Easy access to all key components

Once a year you will need access to your boiler. So when it comes to your yearly Worcester Bosch boiler service which is required to maintain the boilers’ warranty, the installer can remove the front and side panels if required.

And if anything untoward should happen in the future, at least you can be sure that a suitably trained heating engineer will be able to quickly fix any problems.

Low output by modulation to 4.8kw

If energy efficiency and cutting your gas and electricity bills are near the top of your list when it comes to choosing a new combi boiler, then it’s good to know that the Worcester 2000 combi boiler is energy efficient and can modulate down to as little as 4.8kw to keep running costs down.

Worcester Bosch Greenstar 2000 boilers reviews

Here is our final breakdown for the Worcester Greenstar 2000 review. We’ve looked at the main areas that you need to consider when buying a new combi boiler and given them a score out of 10 of what we believe the boiler deserves.

Performance review – 8/10

This Worcester bosch is designed to be a good quiet boiler that just gets on with the job. It has no frills and has no fancy features, which is exactly what you would expect for the price. We can’t fault the performance of the boiler, it just lacks the abilities of a better boiler.

Reliability review – 9/10

Being part of the Worcester Greenstar range is a stamp of reliability. As much as it doesn’t come with the 10 or 12 years warranty of the better boilers in the range, we are sure the Worcester 2000 will last. You do however get a 10-year guarantee on the heat exchanger, which is the main component.

Price review – 8/10

There is no arguing that this is one of the best cheap Worcester boilers on the market. The fact that it is selling like hotcakes says so, and we’ve not heard anything bad about it yet. We just think that you can get a bit more value for money in terms of the warranty.

Warranty review – 7/10

If you compare the Worcester 2000 warranty to other boilers in the price bracket such as the Alpha E-tec, then we can’t give it a score any higher than 7. The Alpha is slightly cheaper and comes with a 10 years warranty for your peace of mind. You could however spend £150 and get a 10 years warranty on a Worcester 4000.

Worcester Bosch 2000 combi boilers review overall Score 8/10

We really like the Worcester 2000, and so do customers. This has quickly become one of the best-selling boilers on the market.

A cheap Worcester Bosch in terms of price was always going to sell well, and it seems like the lack of a long warranty hasn’t deterred people from getting their hands on a Worcester boiler for less.

The biggest chink in its armour unfortunately will be its bigger brother the Worcester Bosch 4000

Boiler Thermostats & Controls review

Just because the Worcester 2000 is a cheap boiler, this doesn’t mean to say you have to sacrifice having a smart thermostat.

The Greenstar 2000 is capable of working with universal smart thermostats, but more importantly, Bosch’s own easy control. It doesn’t have built-in Wifi like the 4000 or 8000 models but is still compatible.

Worcester 2000 Bosch EasyControl

The Bosch EasyControl is their own smart thermostat. Complete with an app that lets you control your heating from anywhere that you have an internet connection, the Bosch EasyControl helps you to become more energy efficient.

Comfort Plus II

If you don’t want or need a smart thermostat then this Comfort Plus II is a great wireless thermostat. Capable of being programmed to turn on and off at set times to make sure that your boiler is only on when you need it, and an easy manual override if you need to warm your home up quick, this is Worcester best wireless thermostat.

Hive & Nest

If you already have a smart thermostat such as the Hive or Nest smart thermostats, then these can still be used with the Worcester 2000.

These 2 universal smart thermostats enable you to control the heating in your home from anywhere you can get an internet connection
